The County You Live, Work And Play

X Factor At Hamilton Racecourse

01/06/15

This summer at Hamilton Park Racecourse is going to be a star-studded affair as Sam Bailey and Jay James take centre stage this July.

The former X Factor contestants will raise temperatures at the Lanarkshire venue’s summer racenight, on Saturday, July 11, with a series of live performances following an evening of first class action on the track.

The stars have been unveiled as one of the entertainment highlights in this year’s action-packed SuperSeal Season 2015.

Sam Bailey, who scooped the winner’s crown in the X Factor finals in 2013 with over one million votes, will perform her number one hit Skyscraper as well as songs from her album The Power of Love.

This will be Sam Bailey’s second visit to Hamilton. Sam was pictured earlier this year at a local chip shop. The former Leicester prison warden - who beat rival Nicholas McDonald, of Motherwell, to victory in 2013 - found time to sit down for a fish tea at The Chippy Doon The Lane, in the town’s Keith Street. She visited the diner after a performance in front of hundreds of fans at Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium. She joined her good friend Nicholas McDonald, who is also godfather to her daughter Miley, to catch up over a cup of tea and a plate of chips.

Sam will be joined at the races by former Royal Navy fitness instructor Jay James from the 2014 series of the X Factor, who was recently named one of the top ten Hottest Hunks of 2015 by Heat magazine readers.

After serving nine years in the Navy, Jay was badly injured and whilst on sick leave decided to learn and play a guitar he had bought three months previous as a ‘drunken bet’, despite having no previous background in music.

He then discovered and developed a new found love for music and song writing and has since supported a number of big acts over the years.

The ladies’ favourite will wow crowds with a show-stopping performance guaranteed to get visitors on their feet.

Race-goers and fans are advised to get booked early for the event with tickets predicted to go fast.

Vivien Kyle, chief executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “Sam Bailey and Jay James won over the hearts of millions when they were on the X Factor.

“I’m sure they will do exactly the same with our visitors when they star at our summer racenight this July. This event is a must-see for the summer calendar. And I’m sure both acts will hit the right note with fans and visitors looking for an exciting evening of racing that culminates in a show-stopping finale. We can’t wait to open our gates and welcome them to our venue.”

Fellow former X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden had been scheduled to appear at the event, but has withdrawn due to television commitments.

Tickets for the event on are on sale now with special early bird discounts.
