Stars Line Up For Charity Match

05/03/15

Hamilton Accies legend Jose Quitongo will be putting his shooting boots on for a charity football match.

He will be turning out with other former players next month to help the DreamMaker Foundation at Ravenscraig sports centre.

The charity, based in Hamilton Street, Carluke, make dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Meanwhile, Dobbies Sandyholm have made DreamMaker Foundation their local charity of the year.

DreamMaker, founded by Wishaw charity champion Les Hoey MBE, have helped make children smile when they are going through some horrendous treatments by bringing their music idols and sporting heroes to meet them.

In the past, stars kind enough to meet with the kids have included The Script, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Jessie J and Beyonce.

The charity recently received a cheque from William Grants Distiller for £5000.

The celebrity football game on Sunday, April 26, at Ravenscraig, features two teams of ex-footballers that includes Tom Boyd, Derek Ferguson, Jose Quitongo, and Bob Malcolm.

DJ Des Clarke, River City actors Scott Fletcher, Jordan Young and Gerard Miller, and entertainer Billy Warren are also taking part.
