Schoolboy Pole Attack
A teenage boy is being treated in hospital after he was assaulted with a metal object at his school. Two teenagers have been arrested following the incident at Brannock High in Newarthill.
The 16-year-old was taken to Wishaw General Hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
It is believed that he was struck with a pole.
Police said a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 13.10. police and emergency services responded to a report of a 16-year-old boy at a school in Loanhead Road, Newarthill, having been assaulted by two boys. The 16-year-old was taken to Wishaw General Hospital by a family member where he is receiving treatment for his injury, which is not life threatening.
“A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the incident and have now been released. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the Scottish Children’s Reporter administration.”
A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council: “An incident took place at lunchtime today, where two teenagers, who are not associated with the school, entered the building and assaulted one of our pupils."
