Parking Restrictions To Improve Safety
South Lanarkshire Council hope new parking restrictions in central Cambuslang will improve road safety in the area.
Two loading and waiting restrictions orders will come in to force next month, affecting three roads.
The first will be at Greenlees Road where waiting and loading will be banned from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 - 9.30am and 3.30 - 6.30pm. This will apply to a section of road approximately 20 metres south of Busheyhill Street.
Head of roads and transportation, Gordon MacKay, said: “Our aim in extending the restrictions is to improve road safety, primarily for pedestrians crossing Greenlees Road.
“This includes children, crossing with a patroller, on their journey to and from St Bride’s Primary School.”
The second order relates to the junction of Central Avenue and Buchanan Drive.
Mr MacKay said it would “improve road safety by removing inappropriate parking from the junction.”
He added: “The Traffic Regulation Order will prevent waiting and loading at any time in the vicinity of the junction.”
Neither plan received any objections during the consultation period.
The Greenlees Road order will become effective on October 10, while the one at Central Avenue/Buchanan Drive will come in to place on October 24.
