Man Stabbed On Train
A man's been knifed on board a Scotrail train in South Lanarkshire.
British Transport Police were called to an incident at Hamilton West Station around 5.30pm following reports of a stabbing.
A man had been stabbed in the legs and was rushed to hospital where his condition is described as stable.
Passengers were warned of delays on services in the area by a tweet from Scotrail towards the end of Friday night's rush hour.
Posts then appeared on social media claiming a stabbing had taken place on the train.
Kim Dempster posted her concern for her student daughter Amy who had phoned to say she was stuck on board the train where the alleged incident took place.
She wrote, “Amy set off for Uni again tonight and phones to say she’s stuck at Hamilton West as someone’s been stabbed on the train.
“How can you not worry about your kids when lunatics are going around with knives stabbing folk?”
Others couldn't believe what had happened.
Ashleigh Bell wrote, "Never seen so many police at Hamilton west before. Sad days when folk are getting stabbed on the rush hour trains."
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Hamilton West railway station near Glasgow at 5.30pm on Friday, 14 October following reports of a stabbing on a train. When officers a attended a man was discovered with stab wounds to his legs, he has been taken to hospital for treatment where his condition has been described as stable.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries into the incident are on-going.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 , or text 61016, quoting reference 401 of 14/10/16. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
