Kids Plummet Backwards
A schoolboy was taken to hospital and two young pals were bruised when a faulty log fume twice sent them hurtling 60ft down a slope backwards.
The three 10-year-olds were terrified when the ride malfunctioned at M&D’s Theme Park in Motherwell.
Mia, Neil and Alanis, who all live in the town, said the cart they were in lost its grip as it climbed the first hill on the ride.
It slid back down, attempted the climb again and fell down again.
The ride was then stopped and the kids got off. They were taken to the park’s first-aid room before Neil’s dad Gordon took him to hospital where he got painkillers for a bruised hip.
Neil said: “We all got a real fright. Going up the hill on the cart and sliding back down was the worse feeling I have ever had.
“I struggled to walk down the stairs the next day.”
A spokesman for M&D’s said: “There was an incident involving the White Water ride on Monday.
“The ride was closed following the incident to allow a full health and safety check to take place.”
