K2 Texstyles Home Store Suddenly Shuts
Customers of K2 Texstyles Home in Brandon Street, Hamilton contacted South Lanarkshire Council trading standards last week saying they had paid money for goods but had not received anything.
Others had been paying into a savings club run by the store which dissolved on April 14.
Trading standards are appealing for help to track down owner Lubna Ajaz.
Shirley Clelland, of Fleet and Environmental Services at South Lanarkshire Council, said: “The Trading Standards Service received four complaints from consumers last week, all claiming that the shop had taken money for goods up front, but not supplied them.
“Some consumers had also been paying into ‘savings clubs’.
“On receipt of the complaints, officers visited the premises, which also traded as K2, but found them closed and unoccupied.
“Further checks indicate that the company requested voluntary dissolution on April 14, 2015.
“Based on current information it is likely that those consumers who have lost out due to the closure of the business will become unsecured creditors.
“As such they have lower priority than secured creditors and will have little chance of getting their money back.
“In the meantime our enquiries into the whereabouts of the Director of Direct Home Furnishings Limited, Mrs. Lubna Ajaz, are continuing. If anyone can help please get in touch.”
Trading standards can be contacted by emaling email@example.com or on 01698 455696.
Information will be treated in confidence.
