Hamilton Gun Drama
A gunman brought terror to a residential street in the early hours after firing at a car.
Police have launched a probe after a weapon was fired at a vehicle just after midnight in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers rushed to the scene after calls from terrified residents who heard the gunfire on William Drive, Hamilton .
It is not known if the gunfire is linked to the other violent attacks in Lanarkshire over the weekend.
Detective Inspector Kevin Jamieson from Police Scotland’s Lanarkshire CID, said: “Enquiries are at a very early stage in determining the circumstances surrounding this incident, however, at this time we believe this was a targeted attack.
“We know that a gun was fired at around 12.20am resulting in a nearby vehicle sustaining damage. No one was injured as a result. We will not tolerate such brazen criminality in our communities.”
DI Jamieson added: “I want to reassure those who live locally that we are doing all we can to trace the person or persons responsible. Detectives are analysing available CCTV and we are conducting significant door to door enquiries in an effort to gather more information.
“Please approach officers in the area with any information you may have.”
