Two Lanarkshire beauties are vying to be crowned Face of the Globe in the final of an international beauty pageant taking place on Thursday 7th April.

Hamilton Grammar pupil Kendal Nicol (16) is representing Scotland in the teen category, while Amy Meisak (22) from Little Earnock is competing in the adult category.

The final of the Face of the Globe pageant is being held in Disneyland Paris where 151 women and girls from across the world will be competing in four age categories.

They have been taking part in a range of activities and challenges, building up to the final.

Kendal said, before heading off to Paris, “I’m really excited, especially as I’ve been preparing for so long. I’m excited about Disneyland Paris and spending a day in the actual park.

“I’m also really looking forward to the fit camp. It’s a zumba with Chico. I’m looking forward to that because I’m really into my dancing.”

Kendal has been getting to know the other Face of the Globe contestants in a group chat on Facebook, and she is being accompanied to Disneyland by her mum Wilma.

She says the support from her friends and family has been amazing. She said: “Everyone has been so supportive and have been sending me good luck messages.

Meanwhile, Amy was a late entrant to the pageant, applying less than a week before the Scottish heat took place.

She was delighted to win the Scottish crown and excited the Scottish teen entrant was also a Lanarkshire lass. Amy said: “I thought it was strange that you had all these girls from all over Scotland and the two girls from here won.

“It was actually a last-minute decision to enter. I applied on the Sunday night six days before, and I heard back from them on the Thursday saying I had a spot on the Saturday. I only really had a day to get myself ready.

“I’m usually a confident person but this time I found it really nerve-wracking, but it was good fun. All the other girls were friendly and supportive.”

Amy is becoming a bit of a pageant regular and is the reigning Miss Earth Scotland. She has also held the Miss Supermodel UK crown and plans to make a bid to become Miss Scotland.

Amy hopes her beauty pageant experience will help in her radio career. She gets fit for her pageants with the help of New Age Fitness in Hamilton.
