EK Discount Store On TV
Staff members Richard O'Donnell, Annavore McCabe, Ronan Munn and Charley Rokitta are set to appear in the new ITV series
An East Kilbride clothes shop is set to appear in a fly-on-the-wall documentary.
The new six-part ITV series, Bargain Shop Wars, goes behind the scenes at Pep&Co to look at the challenges faced in the highly-competitive discount fashion market.
Filming has already taken place at the store in the town centre, so viewers can expect to see some familiar faces.
The fashion outlet opened in East Kilbride last September, one of 50 stores opened by the retailer in just 50 days.
Team leader at Pep&Co in EK, Annavore McCabe, said: “They filmed us going about our day-to-day business, and while some customers quickly left the shop when they realised what was going on, others wanted to know what was happening and carried on shopping.
“It was good fun. We will be glued to the series.”
The first show in the series airs on ITV1 Thursday 14th at 8.30pm.
“We don’t know when our store will be featured, but we will be celebrating in the store on Friday with posters, balloons and badges,” said Anavore.
Adrian Mountford, managing director of Pep&Co, said: “In just over 50 days, we took on the challenge of opening 50 stores.
“We were delighted to throw open our doors to ITV, because we wanted the nation to have a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring high quality, low price family fashion to some of the country’s most loved towns.”
A spokesman for EK East Kilbride said: “It looks like it will be an interesting documentary.
“I believe the filmmakers toured the country so we will have to wait and see if the EK team make it to the final cut and get their moment in the TV spotlight.”
