EK MP Gives Rescued Dog A Home
MP Lisa Cameron introduced her new pet to the public this week – rescue dog Rossi.
The French bulldog is the latest addition to the Camerons’ Lesmahagow household which is also home to rescue rabbits Misty and Winter.
The SNP politician and her pooch posed for photos at the Scottish SPCA Rescue and Rehoming Centre Lanarkshire on Friday when they popped in for a visit.
And staff at the Hamilton-based centre were thrilled when the East Kilbride MP handed over a cheque for £150 to the animal welfare charity.
Lisa, who is mum to daughters six-year-old Olivia and two-year-old Charlotte, said: "I have always been an animal lover and wanted the kids to have pets and learn responsibility for looking after them. We re-homed two rabbits and then Rossi. Rossi fits the family very well as he is used to small children. It’s important to re-home animals if you are in the appropriate circumstances and can look after them as it gives them a second chance to have a family life and be loved. The Scottish SPCA is such a worthwhile cause – great work by the staff and volunteers."
Centre assistant manager, Lorraine Alba said: "Dr Cameron very kindly gave Rossi, our French bulldog, a new home earlier this year after he arrived in our care because he wasn’t getting along with the other dog in his previous household.
"In addition to this, Dr Cameron has also given two of our baby rabbits, Misty and Winter, a second chance in life. We were delighted to welcome Dr Cameron and Rossi back as it is always lovely when our former residents pay us a visit with their new owners.
"We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr Cameron for her very kind donation and for all the support she has been able to give the Scottish SPCA in recent years."
