MSPs Raise Concern Over ’Craig Future
Plans to build Scotland’s first New Town in 50 years have been shelved and a new development plan will be brought forward to include only housing with an element of retail.
At General Questions, Ms Adamson asked the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Economy, John Swinney what the Government believed the impact of this would be.
In response Mr Swinney said the Scottish Government recognises that the area requires further economic development and would work with North Lanarkshire Council and other partners on the options available to further develop the site.
Mr Swinney also commented the Government had already allocated tax incremental financing status to the Ravenscraig development to unlock future economic growth.
Fellow Central Scotland list MSP John Wilson has received an answer to his written question seeking assurances the Scottish Government was consulting with North Lanarkshire Council regarding the decision to revise Ravenscraig plans.
Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities Keith Brown responded with essentially the same answer Ms Adamson received from Mr Swinney committing to working with all of the relevant parties.
