Armed Gang Target Gym Staff
Police Scotland are hunting an armed gang of balaclava-clad thugs who threatened gym staff in Hamilton.
A 64-year-old male member of staff was closing up at around 5.10pm on Saturday 10th October when five masked men stormed into Braveheart Boxing Gym, in Low Water Road, Hamilton. It is understood the group - who were armed with baseball bats - were looking for a "target". After they realised the gym was empty, they made off in a car.
All five men were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
Detective Inspector Kevin Jamieson, Serious and Organised Crime Unit, is leading the investigation. He said: "I believe that the gym, or people associated with it, were the target of this attack. Thankfully no one was injured in this incident but it was quite a scary thing to happen to the staff member who was closing up for the night. The men got access to the gym but as there was no one in, left soon after in what is believed to be a blue Ford Focus or similar. The car, which had a spoiler on the rear, is believed to have driven off after the incident and made its way up Low Waters Road towards Carrigans restaurant and bar in Hamilton."
